Personal Information

I am a professor of automatic control at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, in which I have the role of director of the both bachelor and master degrees in Mechatronics. In this role, apart from normal academic duties, I work to define the vision for the didactical organization, in particular, I recently launched a revision of the academic plan accordingly to new technologies known as Industry 4.0 (IoT, human-robot co-working, smart manufacturing, etc.).
In my research activities I always seek for cooperation between industry and academia, I have a score of more than 80 research project totally financed by private companies. I strongly believe in a modern approach to research, in which there is no space any longer for researchers who work alone in their office, but with a strong team who work together to reach effective research overlooking to industrial impact. I founded the laboratory of Automation, Robotics and System Control, who in 2016 is formed by 26 researchers and is involved in 4 European projects currently active.
I launched 4 academic spin-offs, who are now brilliant industrial bodies well introduced in the economic structure of the city of Reggio Emilia.
